Rs 545 million frozen in Udaypur

UDAYAPUR, July 22: Like in the past, the work of various development projects was sped up at the end of the fiscal year. But still budget amounting to more than half a billion rupees allocated for the fiscal year 2017/18 has frozen in Udaypur.

UDAYAPUR, July 22: Like in the past, the work of various development projects was sped up at the end of the fiscal year. But still budget amounting to more than half a billion rupees allocated for the fiscal year 2017/18 has frozen in Udaypur.

Despite trying their best to spend the allocated budget, local bodies failed to spend both capital and recurrent budget. According to the District Treasury Comptroller Office (DTCO), a budget of around Rs 545 million remained unspent in the last fiscal year. Reportedly, 95% of the total sanctioned budget was used by various government authorities.

The government had sanctioned a budget of around Rs 6.2 billion for the district last fiscal year. Hira Neupane, chief of DTCO informed that a good amount of tax was collected from Udayapur in fiscal year 2017/18. In comparison to previous fiscal years, tax collection increased by 40% in last fiscal year.


In the fiscal year 2016/17, around Rs. 22 million was collected from tax which increased to Rs. 31 million in the fiscal year 2017/18.
