KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Minister of State for Education, Shesh Nath Adhikari, today informed that the government has allocated Rs 6.5 million to build a disabled- friendly school building. Under this scheme, students with disabilities will be also provided with scholarship.

Inaugurating the fifth general assembly of the Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN) in the Capital, he stressed the need for carrying out curriculum reform in subjects like math, and science for the convenience of visually-impaired students to study.
Also on the occasion, President of the Nepal National Teachers Association Baburam Thapa pointed out the need for curriculum reforms in school and college levels for visually-impaired students.
General Secretary of the National Federation of Disabled Nepal, Raju Basnet, demanded the implementation of commitments made by the government with regard to education for differently-abled persons.
The BYAN President Kaladhar Bhandari, General Secretary Ram Chandra Gaire, Chairperson of the Nepal Disabled Women Association Nirmala Dhital, and Chairperson of Nepal Association of the Blind Ramesh Pokharel also spoke at the event.
