KATHMANDU, March 31: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held discussions with its ministers regarding the distribution of national identity cards to students.
During a regular meeting on Sunday, ministers representing the RSP deliberated on the initiative to provide national ID cards to students.
Mukul Dhakal, general secretary and spokesperson of RSP, stated, "There have been discussions on preparing for the distribution of national identity cards to students."
National ID card distribution to begin in Ilam from today
The meeting also addressed concerns about the accuracy of student enrollment numbers. It was acknowledged that discrepancies might arise due to inflated student numbers. Therefore, it was proposed that issuing national identity cards could help verify and authenticate student enrollment figures. Dhakal emphasized that any irregularities could be rectified once the accurate student count was determined.
Dhakal said it was agreed in the meeting that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Education would collaborate to facilitate the issuance of identity cards to students.
Labor Minister DP Aryal highlighted the implementation of measures to expedite the distribution of labor certificates within an hour.
The Department of Foreign Employment has organized its operations into three shifts, operating from 7 AM to 2 PM, 2 PM to 9 PM, and 9 PM to 4 AM.
The RSP conducts discussions with its four ministers every Sunday morning.
Party Chairman and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, Education Minister Sumana Shrestha, and Labor Minister DP Aryal participated in the recent discussion. Sports Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha was unable to attend the meeting.
