Ruling coalition mayoral candidate Singh leads by double votes in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ, May 15: In Birgunj –the only metropolitan city of Madhesh Pradesh–, Rajeshman Singh, the mayoral candidate from the ruling five-party alliance, is ahead of CPN-UML candidate Bijay Kumar Sarawagi by double votes.

BIRGUNJ, May 15: In Birgunj –the only metropolitan city of Madhesh Pradesh–, Rajeshman Singh, the mayoral candidate from the ruling five-party alliance, is ahead of CPN-UML candidate Bijay Kumar Sarawagi by double votes.


This lead was seen while counting 3,067 ballot papers from ward number 1, 2, 31 and 32 of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Singh from Janata Samajbadi party is leading in the mayoral race with 1,363 votes while UML mayoral candidate Bijay Kumar Sarawagi is following with 659 votes.


Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Girish Giri got 41 votes.


Meanwhile, Imtiyaz Alam of Nepali Congress is leading with 1,012 votes for the post of Deputy Mayor. Purushottam Lal Jha of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, who is in alliance with CPN-UML, got 160 votes for the post of Deputy Mayor while Bina Jaiswal from RPP secured 55 votes.
