Kathmandu: Balen Shah leading with 38,333 votes

KATHMANDU, May 22: Independent candidate Balen Shah is leading in the mayoral race for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with 38,333 votes in the ongoing vote counting. Shah’s closest rival Nepali Congress(NC) leader Sirjana Singh of the ruling alliance is trailing behind with 21,299 votes.

KATHMANDU, May 22: Independent candidate Balen Shah is leading in the mayoral race for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with 38,333 votes in the ongoing vote counting. Shah’s closest rival Nepali Congress(NC) leader Sirjana Singh of the ruling alliance is trailing behind with 21,299 votes.

Similarly, CPN-UML mayoral candidate Keshav Sthapit has received 21,008 votes. 


There are a total of 300,242 registered voters in KMC but only a little over half of them cast their votes in the May 13 local polls. A total of 106, 352 votes have been counted as of 5 AM today.
