SAARC Handicraft Exhibition and Workshop concludes

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: SAARC Cultural Center organized SAARC Handicraft and Exhibition and Workshop at Patan Durbar Square, from September 9 to 12.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: SAARC Cultural Center organized SAARC Handicraft and Exhibition and Workshop at Patan Durbar Square, from September 9 to 12. During the inaugural event, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai had said that events like the expo would be crucial for providing exposure to local products. “Such expos help to not only showcase the products but also share indigenous skills to participants from other countries," he said.  


Participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka had taken part in the event. Handicrafts made in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka were showcased in the expo. “Traditional and modern handicrafts are such properties that keep reminding the people about the rich culture of SAARC countries,” said His Excellency Amjad Hussain B Sial, Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), as quoted in a press release issued by the SAARC secretariat.
