KATHMANDU, Jan 26: On the occasion of 69th Republic Day of India, the Indian government conferred the Padmashree award to famed opthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit.
“Ruit has been instilling vision to more than 100,00 cataract patients at nominal costs,” the official twitter handle of India’s Press Information Bureau wrote adding that through Ruit’s technology, costs of the surgery had reduced by 90 percent. The technology is also being used in more than 30 countries where almost four million people have been able to see the world again.
Dr Sanduk Ruit felicitated with Isa Award
Every week, Ruit carries out surgeries to 2500 people. Ruit was born at Onglachunggola of Taplejung. Ruit is the Director of Nepal’s Tilganga Eye Center.
