Most of us at some point of time have considered a career transformation, right? Some of us fail to pile up the guts needed to switch over while there are some daredevils who go on landing on a completely different career path.
Meet Santosh Sapkota, a Mechanical Engineer turned Social Media Manager, who fits under the second group, quitting his past career and pursuing a new one that is much closer to his heart.
Completing his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in Bangalore back in 2015, Sapkota worked for a Bangalore-based company for a couple years before moving to his native place Nepal in 2018.

But his life took a U-turn when he became an admin of the Facebook fan page of his cousin Arjun Sapkota, a Nepali folk singer in 2017. In spite of his initial hiccups as a Social Media Manager, he went on to master the art of handling social accounts.
His real motivation came when other celebrities both from Nepal and India started to enquire about his services and this was the time when Sapkota decided to become a full time freelance Social Media Manager.
Currently Santosh Sapkota handles 15 social accounts including celebrities like Saigrace Pokharel, Arjun Sapkota, Anil Gurung, Shirish Devkota, Kushal Bhurtel.
Social media managers produce, publish and evaluate posts on social media platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram or Twitter to manage their clients' online presence. As a social media manager, Sapkota engages with social account users, resolves tech issues like restoring hacked accounts, runs promotional campaigns and validates accounts.
If you have a social media account, it is almost certain that you are following one or more celebrities! Social media is the only medium enabling celebrities to make a direct connection with their fans. But do these celebrities have all that time and skills to handle their own accounts? Obviously not, and this is where a social media manager comes in. SMMs take care of a celebrity’s brand-building and marketing in a more professional way than the celebrities themselves.
According to Sapkota, social media is an opportunity galore for youths if they can discover the correct route for themselves.
