KATHMANDU, July 24: The fire that had erupted in the Saurya Airlines plane that crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport is now under control.


A Spokesperson at the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Raj Mainali said the fire was brought under control at 11:40 AM.

 Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft crashed while attempting to take off from TIA at around 11 AM on Wednesday.


According to TIA officials, the Sourya Airlines plane met with an accident while attempting to take off at Tribhuvan Airport. There were a total of 19 people on board, including the crew members, on the aircraft bound for Pokhara from Kathmandu.


Security personnel are currently working on the search and rescue efforts. Eyewitnesses said Captain Manish Shakya, 37, has been rescued from the crash site. He has been admitted to the Kathmandu Medical College for treatment.
