SC demands submission of high court documents on marital rape case

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order, seeking submission of High Court Patan's document relating to a marital rape case involving suspended district judge Bhuwan Giri.

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order, seeking submission of High Court Patan's document relating to a marital rape case involving suspended district judge Bhuwan Giri.


A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued the order seeking the court document.

Patan High Court Patan had issued an order that it was not necessary to remand the judge at Rupandehi District Court, Giri.


Similarly, in the same case, the District Court Kathmandu had earlier ordered authorities to release Giri on bail. Giri's spouse had later appealed at the High Court, Patan.


Objecting to the case upheld by the High Court, she even moved to the SC.
