KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The Supreme Court (SC) is set to conduct a hearing on a writ petition filed by the CPN-UML against 14 lawmakers including CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli filed the writ petition on September 2 at the Supreme Court to dismiss the 14 lawmakers from their posts as well as the dismissal of the newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist). Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, the Election Commission, 14 lawmakers, Prime Minister and the Cabinet among others have been made the defendants in the writ petition.

The CPN-UML have accused Speaker Sapkota of not fulfilling his duties by not removing the 14 lawmakers from their posts against whom the CPN-UML had requested the Speaker to take action.
The UML lawmakers have been obstructing the house sessions after Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota did not take action against 14 UML lawmakers whom the party had recommended for dismissal.
The writ petition claims that it is against the law for the Election Commission to register a new party by verifying the signatures of the party lawmakers, who are dismissed by the party. Chairman Oli had filed three writs simultaneously.
