MYAGDI, Aug 18: Classes at Janashakti Secondary School at Kagbeni in Baragunj Muktichhetra Rural Municipality-4 of Mustang district have been suspended as the recent flooding caused damages to the physical property there.

School teacher Manbir Kisan said that the flood damaged the playground, rooms and hostel buildings of the school and added that the classes will remain closed until August 25. The decision to close the classes was taken in coordination with the rural municipality.

"Sand has been deposited in the school building and playground. The road is muddy. Running classes is not likely until supply of drinking water, electricity, foodstuffs and other services are restored," Kisan added.

The flood also inundated two rooms used by the teachers for their residence. Of the total 200 students, altogether 140 students are enjoying the residence facility.

Chairman of the rural municipality, Rinjin Gurung said that they are working to identify the flood-hit properties and protect them, if possible.

The locals and security officials are working to clear the debris, Gurung added.

"We are working to restore drinking water and power supply," he said.
