KATHMANDU, July 30: The second edition of Everest Premier League (EPL) will be organized in December 2017. It was officially announced in a press meet held at Hotel Annapurna on Sunday. The revamped tournament is set to be participated between six franchises named on popular cities of Nepal. The biggest cash prized competition will be played at Tribhuvan University Ground.

The franchise cities Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Bhairahawa and Pokhara will replace the corporate franchises from the last edition which was won by Panchakanya Tez. The winning prize for the event is allocated at Rs 2.1 Million as informed by the organizers.

Each squad will have 15 players in which 10 will be bought through an auction to be held in early August. There will be an optional marquee player for each team along with mandatory three foreign players. The remaining spot will go to a local player to be selected from a talent hunt program hosted by each franchise in their respective cities.

“The inclusion of the name of the cities as teams, foreign players, IPL experienced managers and vendors will all add to the charm of this year’s EPL. Together, we hope to make this year’s EPL a tournament of international standards”- quoted Aamir Akhtar the CEO of Zohra Sports Management.
