Seven ‘fake’ doctors arrested

BIRENDRANAGAR, April 20: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested seven persons, who were practicing medical profession, with fake academic credentials.

BIRENDRANAGAR, April 20: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested seven persons, who were practicing medical profession, with fake academic credentials.


Acting on a tip off, a team of CIB held them from different places and made them public on Monday.

Those arrested include Mohammad Siddiqi (28), Subhash Prasad Sah (29), Mohammad Shahid Raja (28), Dipendra Gautam (31), Akhilesh Kumar Dev (31), Pallavi Singh (27) and Faraj Hussain, according to Ganga Panta, CIB spokesperson.


Of them, Mohammad was working at Neuro Hospital, Biratnagar, while Subhash at Dirghayu Guru Hospital in Kathmandu’s Chabahil. Similarly, Dipendra was serving as a medical doctor at Chaurjahari Mission Hospital in Rukum (West) before the arrest.


They were charged for forging the mark sheets of School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in order to make it to Bangladesh to pursue the MBBS studies. “They were found to have produced a counterfeit SLC mark sheet with fake names, date of birth and obtained marks as they did not meet required criteria to go for medical school,” said Panta. 


They had also obtained license from the Nepal Medical Council, Bansbari on the basis of fake credentials.
