KATHMANDU, June 19: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Gopalman Shrestha has said that role of artists and artisans is significant to human knowledge and to spread light of education in the society.
Inaugurating the Seventh National Fine Arts Exhibition organised by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts here today, DPM Shrestha said that every creation of artists would help disseminate informative message on humans.

He also expressed the belief that native Nepali art would help increase the glory of the country in international arena.
Similarly, Academy Chancellor Ragini Upadhyay said that the Academy is active in promotion of artworks by domestic artists in the international market.
Various personalities were honoured for their significant contribution to the development of art sector. On the occasion, Durga Baral and Rabindra Jyapu were awarded with Araniko National Fine Arts Honour. The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000 each.
Similarly, Krishna Lama has been awarded towards modern art category, Samundra Singh Shrestha towards painting, Dilan Maharjan towards modern sculpture, Dilliraj Shakya towards handicraft, Kamala Sutihar towards folk art and Rabindra Manandhar towards cartoon. The award carries a purse of Rs 60,000 each.
Likewise, Ramesh Shakya, Devendra Gurung, Krishna Gopal Garu, Remani Mandal, Hari Maharjan, Kanchan Tamang, among others were awarded with special honour. Each of them was awarded with Rs 25, 000. The expo will run till July 4. RSS
