Sindhuli locals busy in consultations

SINDHULI, APRIL 9: As the election date inches closer, locals of Sindhuli are busy holding consolations on whom to elect to crucial posts of municipalities and rural municipalities.

SINDHULI, APRIL 9: As the election date inches closer, locals of Sindhuli are busy holding consolations on whom to elect to crucial posts of municipalities and rural municipalities.


The district has two municipalities and seven rural municipalities.


The competition is heating up, as more than 20 prospective candidates are eyeing the top posts in Kamalamai and Dudhauli municipalities.

From the Nepali Congress (NC), Dipak Kumar Ghimire, Minister Upendra Pokharel, Manik Dhakal and Min Bahadur Shrestha, among others, expected to file their candidacy in Kamalamai. As per the lcoals, Ghimire might grab the seat given his popularity among the youths.


From CPN-UML, Khadga Khatri, Mahendra Dev Shrestha and Binod Khadka have forwarded their names for the post of Mayor in Kamalamai. The party has forwarded the names of Ghan Shyam Raut and Laxman Karki for the Mayoral post in Dudhauli.


According to CPN-Maoist cadres, the party is recommending the names of Ambardeep Devkota and Ram Thapa in Kamalamai, and Dambar Karki, Basanta Bhattrai and Dinesh Adhikari Danuwar for Dudhauli.


Although some parties have already decided whom to nominate, some are still holding consultations. The requirement of nominating a huge number of candidates has made it tough for the parties to choose candidates.
