Sita Rana Magar guides Nepal to first win

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Karuna Bhandari’s three wickets supported by a wicket each by four other Nepali bowlers helped to limit Malaysia Women on 75 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs to give Nepal Women first win of the tournament by 33 runs at Bangkok.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Karuna Bhandari’s three wickets supported by a wicket each by four other Nepali bowlers helped to limit Malaysia Women to 75 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs to give Nepal Women first win of the tournament by 33 runs in Bangkok.



Sonu Khadka, Nary Thapa, Ritu Kanoujiya and Sita Rana Magar picked up one wicket each. Nepal moves up at the fourth position in the points table with four points after four matches. Two matches were intervened by rain.



Earlier, Malaysia won the toss and invited Nepal to bat first.  Wicket-keeper Jyoti Pandey and opener Sita Rana Magar put on an opening partnership of 66 runs to set up the match for Nepal. Nur Natsya and Jannadiah Halim picked up two wickets each for Malaysia to limit Nepal for 108 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.



Sita Rana Magar was adjudged player of the match for her all-round performance. Nepal’s women cricket team is in Thailand with a target of earning the place in the Global Qualifiers finishing in the top two of the ongoing ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifying Series Asia Region competition.
