Six arrested for attacking police post and snatching away weapons

NEPALGUNJ, Nov 2: Police have arrested six youths for attacking the local Aagrigau Police post and taking away their weapons on Tuesday evening. All the arrestees are residents of Kafalkot, eastern Surkhet.

NEPALGUNJ, Nov 2: Police have arrested six youths for attacking the local Aagrigau Police post and taking away their weapons on Tuesday evening. All the arrestees are residents of Kafalkot, eastern Surkhet.  


According to sources, the incident evolved from a dispute between a youth and a police constable.  


According to the locals, there had been a dispute between Nara Bahadur  BK, the police constable and one of the village youth on Tuesday at around 5 pm near Deurali Bazar. Then, at around 6 pm, a mob led by the same youth attacked the police post.

When the gang invaded the Police station, there were not more than five policemen including ASI Manoj Ale. The policemen couldn’t do anything as they were outnumbered and overpowered by the mob. Rudra Bahadur KC, a local teacher said, “Then, they fled away with the weapons.”


Midwest Police Chief, DIG Madhav Nepal reported that the gang looted two rifles, two pistols and two hundred rounds of bullets, among which police have not been able to recover 8 rounds of pistol bullets.


DIG Nepal said, “The gang has been identified. Six of them have been arrested. The police will take strict action against them.”


The police have identified the gang members as Dilip Singh, Rabindra Singh, Kuber Singh and other 11 members from Kafalkot-5, Timilsina. Tilak Singh, Keshav Singh, Prem Khatri, Tirtha Bahadur Khatri and two others have been arrested.
