KATHMANDU, March 14: A total of six lawmakers did not take part in the voting when Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal sought the vote of confidence from the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Wednesday.
Currently, there are 274 MPs in the House of Representatives. Of them, 268 MPs took part in the voting when Dahal received the vote of confidence in parliament.
Dahal received the vote of confidence for the third time as the Prime Minister. A total of 157 MPs voted for him as the prime minister. These include 74 lawmakers from the CPN-UML. The UML has 77 MPs in the House of Representatives.
UML issues whip not to give trust vote to PM Dahal
A post of lawmaker has fallen vacant following the death of Subas Chandra Nemwang, who was elected to the HoR from Ilam-2. Similarly, UML lawmaker Devraj Ghimire is now the Speaker and does not take part in the voting process.
Another UML lawmaker, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, has been suspended after being found involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
Similarly, UML lawmaker, Basant Nemwang, was absent from Wednesday's parliament meeting. He is seriously ill and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Geeta Basnet and Janmat Party's lawmaker Sonu Murmu were absent in Wednesday's HoR meeting.
Meanwhile, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) abstained from the voting. The NWPP has a lawmaker, Prem Suwal in the HoR.
