Six more including Customs officials held in connection with the gold smuggling case

KATHMANDU, July 24: The Revenue Investigation Department (RID) on Sunday arrested six persons including three government officials in connection to their involvement in smuggling of 100 kilograms of gold.

KATHMANDU, July 24: The Revenue Investigation Department (RID) on Sunday arrested six persons including three government officials in connection to their involvement in smuggling of 100 kilograms of gold. 


Information Officer of RID Nabaraj Adhikari said that the arrested ones are Customs Officer Santosh Chandra, X-ray Operator Saroj Shrestha and Customs Invigilator Kumar Dhakal.

Likewise, customs agents Sudarshan Gautam, Rukmini Subba and Yadav Parajuli have also been held in connection with the gold smuggling case.


So far, 16 individuals have been arrested in this case.  


The DRI had earlier seized the gold from Tribhuvan International Airport area that had passed undetected through the customs. The gold was brought from Hong Kong.
