KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Kalimati Fruits and Vegetable Market Development Board has scrapped license of six traders who were found leasing out stalls allotted to them to other parties.
The meeting of the board held on Tuesday decided to scrap licenses of traders classified into a red category.
The board had asked these traders to come to the board to give a statement. But they chose to ignore the board's call despite repeated attempts, officials of the board said.

Traders who lose their stalls include Mohammad Junaid, Israfil Kawari, Purushottam Rai, Parvati Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Khadka and Bishnu Kumar Basnet.
"We had sent them letters, requesting them to come to the board and give their statement on why they leased out stalls allotted them to others. But they didn't respond, leaving us with no option but to scrap their license," Tejendra Prashad Poudel, executive director of the board, said.
He added that the board will conduct further investigation against remaining 92 traders who were classified into a red category.
The board had invited all 98 traders, who were classified into a red category, to give a statement. But six traders chose not to give the statement.
"We will now study statements of the remaining 92 traders. Our next board meeting to be held on September 9 will take a decision on the fate of these traders," Poudel said, adding that a task force has been formed to study statements of the traders.
The taskforce comprises of representatives of the board, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, National Farmer's Commission, Traders, and farmers.
The board had classified 98 traders into red category, after finding that they were illegally renting out stalls allotted them to other traders.
