Following the recent decision by LMC to remove sidewalk traders without providing an alternative, Iih is initiating another protest. He started the protest at around 3 PM today in front of the LMC office.

Iih has also been supported by few youths in this demonstration. They have protested by carrying placards which reads, “Compassion, inclusivity, harmony, please don’t kill the Lalitpur dream”, “Eliminate poverty, not the poor, Don't kill the spirit and dreams of Lalitpur.”

In response to the protest, the LMC has also displayed banner which reads, “Footpaths are not made for keeping goods and shops, they are made for people to walk”, “The footpath is the pedestrian's first right.”

Earlier, Iih conducted a 199-hour protest in front of the National Assembly, against the removal of street vendors from the sidewalk by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. During that protest, an agreement was reached between Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Iih on four points, including the management of sidewalk shops.
