Softwarica College hosts ‘Capture the Flag Bootcamp 2023’ enhancing cybersecurity skills of Nepali students

KATHMANDU, June 26:  Softwarica College, in partnership with Hack the Box, successfully organized the ‘Capture the Flag Bootcamp 2023’ event, held at Softwarica College Block E. This engaging cybersecurity competition provided students with a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field.

KATHMANDU, June 26:  Softwarica College, in partnership with Hack the Box, successfully organized the ‘Capture the Flag Bootcamp 2023’ event, held at Softwarica College Block E. This engaging cybersecurity competition provided students with a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field.


Capture the Flag (CTF) Bootcamp 2023 immersed participants in real-world cybersecurity scenarios, challenging them to exploit vulnerabilities and solve complex challenges to acquire hidden "flags" strategically placed within servers and computer systems. By participating in this event, second and third-year students gained hands-on experience and learned to think like both hackers and defenders.

With approximately 150 participants, the competition facilitated education, skill development, team building, and networking among students. It served as a platform for security assessment and research, enabling participants to gain practical IT experience and establish connections within the industry. Softwarica College frequently organizes such competitions to provide students with practical exposure to real work environments and showcase their abilities.


The event featured guest speakers and Hackthebox Meetup mentors, including Shishir Subedi, Nirmal Thapa, Santosh Bhandari, and Samip Pokharel. These experienced mentors motivated the participants and provided valuable guidance on the skills required to excel in CTF competitions.


According to the college, the  ‘Capture the Flag Bootcamp 2023’ proved to be an exciting event, enabling students to enhance their cybersecurity expertise, foster teamwork, and expand their professional network. Softwarica College remains committed to hosting such events, ensuring students receive real-world exposure and boosting their employability and professional progress in the cybersecurity field.
