Being the eldest of four siblings – three brothers and a sister -- Tika Ram was bestowed with the responsibility of taking care of his younger siblings at 13. He flunked his 10th grade because of the burden of responsibility, after which he migrated to India. There, he worked as a waiter and later got engaged in social work. “I stayed there for around seven years, then came back to Nepal,” remembers Tika Ram. A smile crawled up his face as he looked back. Currently, Tika Ram lives in Narayanghat with his spouse. “My marriage turned into the happiest story of my life. My wife helps me overcome every obstacle, and every night our family gets together for dinner.” Tika Ram’s siblings are all grown up and payback his favor by supporting when in need.
