KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shyam Lal Gyawali, who is the chief of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, has started staying at home quarantine after a police inspector at his office tested positive for COVID-19.
Gyawali is tested positive for the virus as the number of police personnel infected with the virus has witnessed a sharp rise in recent days in Kathmandu Valley. Gyawali will continue to perform his duty while staying at home in isolation for the next two weeks.

The growing number of COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu Valley despite a three-week long prohibitory order to curb further spread of COVID-19 has made people apprehensive that Kathmandu Valley could grow as a new hotspot of infection of this virus.
As of Wednesday morning, 58 individuals have already succumbed to COVID-19 in Valley. Front line workers like security personnel, health workers and journalists are most vulnerable during this pandemic.
