BIRGUNJ, Jan 30: Birgunj Stars defeated Rautahat Rhinos by a run while Dragons of Sahib Durbar lost to KIEC Birgunj by six wickets in the ongoing Birgunj Premier League in Birgunj on Wednesday.
Stars won the toss and elected to bat first. Bibek Yadav scored the highest 31 runs for the team, while Manjay Kumar Mahato scored 21 runs. Stars, who played the allotted 20 overs, presented a target of 120 runs conceding nine wickets.
All-round Yadav leads Stars to BPL final
For Rhinos, Rajesh Yadav took three wickets in the game. In the second innings, Rhinos' openers Gaurav Khadka and Aadil Khan scored scored 39 and 33 respectively, while Rohan BK added 29. However, none of the other batsmen managed to hit double figures. It was short of the win by a run ending the 20-over innings on 118 with the loss of five wickets. Babujan Ansari, who took three wickets, was adjudged the player of the match.
In the other game, KIEC Birgunj was invited to bowl first after it lost the toss. It lost all its wickets within 19 overs. Suraj Prasad Kurmi took three wickets which was the highest for Birgunj.
KIEC won the game in just 16 overs. Opener as well as player of the match, Ramesh Giri scored the most runs 36 off 45 balls while Roshan Pulami added scoring 17 runs off 11 balls.
