State-1 sees three COVID-19 cases today; taking number of patients to 27

ITAHARI, April 22: Three new cases of COVID-19 were detected in State-1 today. Throat swabs tested in Polymerase Chain Reaction held at the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan gave positive result.

ITAHARI, April 22: Three new cases of COVID-19 were detected in State-1 today. Throat swabs tested in Polymerase Chain Reaction held at the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan gave positive result.


Out of 36 results of today's PCR test, three tested positive, shared Dr. Ashok Air, the deputy spokesperson at BPKIHS. With the rise of new cases today, the number of COVID-19 patients has climbed to 27 in the State. All three latest cases tested positive are also from Triyuga Municipality-3, Bhulke of Udayapur, according to Corona Information Desk of State-1 Under the Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.

Yesterday also, 11 new cases were detected from throat swabs collected from Bhulke, the epicenter of state-1's COVID-19 pandemic. It may be noted that 13 people including 11 Indians were first tested positive from Bhulke on April 15. All 27 patients are undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 special hospital set up by Sate-1 government in Biratnagar.


The 50-bed hospital established on April 3 is staffed by health professionals and expert doctors from Koshi Zonal Hospital of Biratnagar, shared Dr. Sangita Mishra, the acting superintendent of the only well-equipped government-owned in the state capital.


On the different front, BPKIHS is readying new 100 isolation beds, informed Dr. Ashok Rai. He added, ''With the view to accommodate more possible COVID-19 patients in the future. We are afoot to prepare isolation wards.''
