KATHMANDU, Feb 11: The street vendors operating within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have staged demonstrations against the metropolis.

On Sunday, the National Self-Employed Traders Association, Nepal Street Trade Trade Union and street vendors jointly picketed the KMC's office as a part of their protest.

During the demonstration, Bhim Khadka, a street vendor, accused the KMC of unilaterally disrupting the negotiations by pretending to hold negotiations with them. He said that when they asked the metropolis to let them live by allowing them to conduct business, the metropolis came at night and looted all their goods.

Khadka argued that the KMC should address the demands of the street vendors.

Another street vendor Sujan Giri said that street vendors should be given a proper alternative place to do their business. He accused the KMC of increasing unemployment rather than ensuring proper management of the streets businesses.
