MUGU, Aug 7: Students of Malika Primary School near the district headquarters of Mugu have been forced to study in a dilapidated classroom. The school located in Chhyanath Rural Municipality, ward-13 of Ruga, has a weather-beaten building with water-leaking roofs where the students take their daily classes.
One of the students, Nisha Lawat, said that she can hardly concentrate on her studies while the roof starts leaking. “We try to keep our books and notebooks safe when it rains and the water starts dripping. Since the classroom lacks enough desks and benches, we sometimes sit on the floor,” said Lawat.

School Principal Chandra Bahadur Shahi stated that the school requires a complete overhaul.
“Although we have asked the local government to support us for its maintenance, our voice has fallen in deaf ears. Although Chhyanath Rural Municipality has allocated budget for the school, the work has not started yet,” said Shahi.
Meanwhile chairperson of ward-13 of Chhyanath Rural Municipality, Chakra Bahadur Sawat stated that a budget of Rs 1.6 million has been allocated for the construction of the school building.
“The construction works have been halted due to technical problems. The foundation of the building has been built so far and the rest of the construction shall continue at the earliest possible,” said Sawat.
