Sudden spike in COVID-19 infection as Nepal records 69 cases on Monday

Of the 1,266 people who were tested, 69 were found carrying the virus, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

KATHMANDU, March 27: A sudden rise in the number of Coronavirus infections was recorded in the country today. Of the 1,266 people who were tested, 69 were found carrying the virus, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. 


Just a day ago on March 26, the number was 16 while 17 were found infected in tests carried out on March 25. As a result, the number of active cases of COVID-19 has also increased.

With the number of infections increasing in neighboring India, it has led to a rise in positive cases due to the open border, Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Dr Chuman Lal Das. Most of the infected people are entering Nepal through the Tri Nagar border crossing at Dhangadhi in Kailali. 


Meanwhile, the health ministry has urged one and all to take caution and also get themselves a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Administration of booster dose is currently underway in different parts of the country including Kathmandu valley.
