MYAGDI, June 5: A suspension bridge has been constructed over the Ghoptekhola (rivulet) in Dandakateri along the Annapurna-Dhaulagiri community eco-trekking route which covers Annapurna of Myagdi and Jaljala of Parbat district.

Locals and tourists have benefited from the suspension bridge constructed in Jaljala Rural Municipality-5, Ghoptekhola.

The 50-meter-long bridge has been constructed with the financial and technical support of Agriculture Aid Association, British Gurkha Nepal, said chairperson of the users' committee Jit Bahadur Pun.

He further shared that the bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 4,750,496. "The locals have donated 85 days of their in-kind labor worth Rs 115,200 for the construction of the bridge," he said.

Narayan Pun, a local, said that the residents of Banskharka, Mallaj, Dandaketari, Bandahe and Nagi of Myagdi stand to benefit from the bridge. He said that the bridge has been useful as it is a trekking route to Mohredanda and Punhil Ghorepani via Banskharka Dandaketari.

It has shortened the travel time and ended the compulsion for the locals to walk through the route with turns.
