Suu Kyi calls for collective efforts to address ongoing global challenges (with video)

KATHMANDU, Dec 1 : State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi stressed the need for collective efforts to address ongoing global challenges including disaster, terrorism, hunger, poverty, migration and injustice.

KATHMANDU, Dec 1 : State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi stressed the need for collective efforts to address ongoing global challenges including disaster, terrorism, hunger, poverty, migration and injustice.


Suu Kyi said so while delivering her speech during the ongoing Asia Pacific Summit being held at Hotel Hyatt Regency.


Suu Kyi said that the world is going through uncertainty, trade tensions and power competitions today. “Traditional and non-traditional threats and posing challenges to us,” she said.

Suu Kyi mentioned that the world is facing challenges such as disaster, terrorism, hunger, poverty, migration, injustice and prejudice among others.


“With advanced informational technology and globalization, people and countries have become increasingly interdependent and inter-connected,” she said.


The state counsellor noted that peace and development are two sides of the same coin while mentioning that sustainable peace is essential in this diverse world.


She said that her country is currently grappling with critical challenges to establish peace.


Suu Kyi also noted that even though the world is becoming increasingly inter-dependent and inter-connected.
