Taekwondo player Palesha honored

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Taekwondo player Palesha Govardhan, who excelled at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, was honored with cash by the Nepal National and International Players Association on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Taekwondo player Palesha Govardhan, who excelled at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, was honored with cash by the Nepal National and International Players Association on Thursday.


Players' Association President Deepak Shrestha, General Secretary Shiv Sundar Gothel and others handed over Rs 10,000 in cash and a certificate to Palesha. On the occasion, team coach Kaviraj Negi Lama and manager Deepak Bista were also given certificates of appreciation.

Palesha, the only Nepali participant in the Paralympics, came close to winning the bronze medal by winning two games in the repêchage. Palesha, who won against the United States in the first and against Serbia in the second, lost to the Chinese player in the final.


After her performance in the Paralympics, Palesha has risen to the fifth position on the world rankings.
