KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Since all householders, businessmen and workers in Thamel have been vaccinated against COVID-19, the entrepreneurs based in Thamel have demanded the government create an environment conducive to business in the tourist hub. Thamel, a major business center in Kathmandu, was affected hugely by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, the night business in Thamel is almost at a standstill. As the government had imposed a lockdown in the whole country, the landlords, tourism entrepreneurs, laborers and employees suffered a lot due to lack of work.
Businesspersons eager to invest, demand conducive environment
Bhavishwar Sharma, vice-chairman of Thamel Tourism Development Council, said that a memorandum has been submitted to the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, to let them open their businesses as all householders, businessmen and workers of Thamel have been vaccinated against COVID 19. According to him, the Thamel-based entrepreneurs have demanded the government create an environment conducive to business within a few days as their livelihoods are at stake. “If the authorities concerned do not address the demand of Thamel on time, we will be forced to launch a strike,” said Sharma.
