KATHMANDU, March 1: Attorney General Dr Din Mani Pokharel has said that there is a need for a detailed debate before justice is administered by the court. He said this while addressing an award function organized by the Lawyers' Club Kathmandu and Shankarlal Kedia Foundation on Tuesday. He said that it is necessary to administer justice in a manner that can be studied in law schools.

He said, “Law magazines bring sophistication to the academic environment. We asked when we were studying in India. Why is there so much discussion on the different judgements of your courts? They replied that it’s a matter of time. A senior advocate would argue for 21 days to get a verdict from the Supreme Court, based on which the Supreme Court would decide. That judgment would be studied in the law colleges and the professors would comment on the judgment and the Supreme Court would review its judgment based on those comments. They used to make re-corrections. Only if such a discourse takes place will justice delivery be renewed. At least the law magazines have initiated academic discourse in the case of Nepal”.
