There is still risk of a new variant of COVID-19 emerging: Dr Adhikari

KATHMANDU, March 6: The government has urged the people to continue following safety and health protocols although the rate of COVID-19 infection is decreasing at the moment.

KATHMANDU, March 6: The government has urged the people to continue following safety and health protocols although the rate of COVID-19 infection is decreasing at the moment. 


According to Dr Samir Kumar Adhikar, assistant spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the accelerated vaccination campaign is the reason behind the decreasing infection rate of COVID-19.

Stating that the vaccination campaigns in African nations are very slow, which could lead to the surge of a new variant of COVID-19 in the future, Dr Adhikari said that the danger of infection has not passed yet.  


He asserted that people should follow the health protocols seriously to be safe from the possibility of risk of infection in the upcoming days.
