SURUNGA, Nov 6: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said that the House of Representatives and provincial assembly elections to be held on November 20 will be conducted in a fearless and fair manner.
He said that the Election Commission is making preparations so as not to allow the situation of re-voting in any polling station.
Take measures to contain the spread of cholera
Speaking at a program on 'Effective Implementation of Election Code of Conduct and Role of Stakeholders' jointly organized by the commission and Nepal Law Society in Birtamode, Jhapa, CEC Thapaliya said that if a political party tries to influence any voter, the related party or person will be prosecuted according to the law.
He said that the commission is conducting awareness programs across the country so that no voter is allowed to vote under the influence of greed or intimidation. CEC Thapalia said that since the commission is in the process of conducting clean and free elections, it has also taken steps to prevent false information, misinformation and hateful expressions that may be broadcast through social media.
Chief Election Officer Chandramani Gyawali, Chief District Officer Chhabi Rizal, district chief of Nepal Police Bishwamani Pokharel, officials of Nepal Bar, candidates and heads and representatives of political parties in the district and civil society participated in the program.
