Third edition of Gaindakot festival to begin on January 29

CHITWAN, Jan 18: The 3rd edition of the Gaindakot festival will be held from January 29 to February 9 in the banks of Narayani River. The festival hopes to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to sell their local products and attract both domestic and international tourists.

CHITWAN, Jan 18: The 3rd edition of the Gaindakot festival will be held from January 29 to February 9 in the banks of Narayani River. The festival hopes to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to sell their local products and attract both domestic and international tourists. According to Amrit Bhattachan, the coordinator of the festival and chairperson of Nawalparasi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, local production will be encouraged and the main aim of the festival is to promote businesses in the region.

According to Chhavi Kandel, chief of the festival secretariat, the budget for the festival is estimated at Rs 10 million. The revenue from the festival will be used to construct a building for the federation. There will be 350 stalls in the festival and both national and international artists have been invited to perform during the festival. Russian artists will be performing belly dance in the festival.


The entrance of the festival will have structures of Burj Al Arab and the London Bridge. The entry ticket for the festival is Rs 50 but students and senior citizens will receive discounts. The festival is being organized in partnership with Gaindakot Municipality, Nawalpur District Coordination Committee, Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Nepal Tourism Board.
