RANJHA, July 26: Three children who went missing from Kohalpur-4 of Banke district six months ago have been rescued from Bareilly, India. Among the rescued children are 11-year-old Rosan Wadi, 7-year-old Bishal Wadi and 5-year-old Pooja Wadi, according to Kohalpur Ward-4 Chairman Tirtha Ram Tharu.
The search operation was conducted in coordination with ‘Manavkalyan Mitra Manch’ an organization that is based in Rupandehi. The three children are being handed over to their family and relatives today.
400 women, children saved from trafficking in eight months
The three children were brought from Nari Niketan Orphanage in Bareilly after providing the necessary documents. In addition to them, two other children from Dang and Baitaidi were also living in the orphanage, Tharu said.
According to reports, the three children reached Rupadiya in India via the Jamuhana border point in Nepalgunj. From there, they took a truck to Bareilly. Upon reaching Bareilly, the three children were rescued by the Indian police and handed over to the local protection agency.
There have been multiple cases of children crossing the Jamunaha border to head towards India where they get lost. According to Keshav Koirala, coordinator of Maiti Nepal of Nepalgunj, many children have gone missing in India after leaving their homes under the influence of their friends. Also, many children from different cities in India including Bahraich, Lucknow, and Delhi have been rescued and are being united with their families, Koirala said.
