ITAHARI, June 26: A 15-year-old girl from Itahari ward no. 16, who had gone missing for one and a half months, has been rescued. Asmita Chaudhary, who was missing since May 13 has been rescued from Haryana, India.
Police Inspector Rabindra Thapa of Area Police Office, Palaki, said, “A team of Nepal Police is trying to rescue the girl from Haryana, India.” “A Nepali person who took the girl to India has escaped and the search for him is on.” According to Thapa, a case has been registered in India against the group who took the girl there.
“Even though a Nepali who took the girl to India has escaped, an Indian has been arrested but he was not seen involved in it,” he said. The police claim that a large group is involved in this.

“After bringing the girl to Nepal, we will know about everyone involved in this case,” he said. The girl was rescued in coordination with the Anti-Trafficking Cell in India, Indian Police and an organization called Saana Haat.
The Area Police Office intensified its search after the girl went missing. Primary investigation showed that Asmita was sent to India by Dinesh Mandal of Biratnagar with the help of Asmita’s uncle Lalu Chaudary through the border of Morang.
Mandal, who sent Asmita to India, is on the run. The search for him is underway, according to the police. The girl’s uncle Lalu and another helper are in police custody. The girl was taken away from her home by Lalu Chaudhary saying that she had to go to Koshi with a Jhankri (shaman) to dispose of ‘worshiped leaves and flowers’ in the river. It was revealed that she was tricked and taken to India by Mandal and her uncle Chaudhary on a bike.
