Prime Minister and Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairman Oli participated in the meeting.

Lekhak said that PM Dahal proposed to speed up the process of appointing the Chief Justice as the judiciary should not remain in this position for a long time. He said that the Supreme Court is running under the leadership of Acting Chief Justice.

There was an agreement to call a meeting of the Constitutional Council and proceed with the appointment process, according to Lekhak.

Prime Minister Dahal will call a meeting of the Constitutional Council at an appropriate time. He added that the meeting also discussed the issue of moving forward with the bill related to transitional justice.

Earlier, Nepal Bar Association and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) had exerted pressure on the government to appoint Chief Justice at the earliest.
