Three Nepalis arrested for online betting on IPL matches

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal Police have arrested three persons on the charge of online betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches being held in the United Arab Emirates.

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal Police have arrested three persons on the charge of online betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches being held in the United Arab Emirates.


Acting on a special tip-off, police arrested Satyajit Shah, 38, Baijnath Shah, 38, and Jagadish Shah, 42, from Biratnagar Metropolitan City on late Tuesday evening.

“Satyajit was arrested red-handed while he was betting online, while the other two were arrested after investigation,” said police.


Police have also confiscated Rs 60,000 in cash, three smartphones, one laptop, and one motorcycle from the arrested. Further investigation into the case is underway.
