Three parties get two more days to revise PR lists

KATMANDU, Feb 13: The Election Commission (EC) has given two more days to three political parties to revise their lists of candidates for parliamentary seats under the proportional representation (PR) system.

KATMANDU, Feb 13: The Election Commission (EC) has given two more days to three political parties to revise their lists of candidates for parliamentary seats under the proportional representation (PR) system. 


The commission extended the deadline after the PR list submitted by Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal were found erroneous.

The deadline to submit the list expired on Monday.


The electoral law has a provision to elect at least 33 percent of the total seats to women and ensure representation of other backward and minority groups.  Name list of federal poll winners will be handed over to the president by Wednesday, which will officially pave the way for the party commanding majority to form a new government.
