KATHMANDU, Feb 9: The Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari has transferred three police officers who were recommended for action following a dispute with an immigration officer at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
A police officer disclosed that the Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, initiated their transfer after the inquiry committee recommended action against them.
Among those transferred are Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Sanjay Tamang, police constables Rabi Ranjan Gupta and Raj Kumar Mahato.

The incident occurred on January 26 when TIA Immigration Officer Chhaya Lal Moktan was heading from the arrival to departure section of the airport. During a security check at a metal detector door, Moktan attempted to bypass the inspection, claiming that he had the authority. The police alleged that Moktan also resorted to using abusive language.
Then there was a scuffle between the police and the staff. Airport police chief DIG Arjun Chand had been insisting that the police constables should have been rewarded for performing their duty well.
However, he became enraged after the inquiry committee led by Joint Secretary Thaneshwar Gautam of the Ministry of Home Affairs recommended action against the police personnel. DIG Chand even tendered his resignation after the committee demanded action.
However, high-ranking police officers including Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Kunwar, Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG) Tek Prasad Rai, Mira Chaudhary, among others did not accept his resignation saying that the resignation did not meet the formal standard and procedures.
The police headquarters said that Chand is currently on a 10-day leave.
