KATHMANDU, April 27: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has expanded the existing domestic flight time to 18 hours a day so as to manage the growing air traffic at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

In keeping with the rise in air traffic, the TIA has made necessary preparations to operate domestic flights up to 18 hours per day at six airports of the Terai region of Nepal from tomorrow, according to CAAN Director-General Engineer Pradeep Adhikari.

CAAN has decided to run the airports in Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Simara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi from 6.00AM till 12AM.

This is expected to help reduce the existing air service pressure in Kathmandu airport and also give some respite to the pandemic-battered tourism sector, he shared.
