Tiger kills man in Banke again

BANKE, Feb 19: A man was killed by a tiger early Saturday at Fattepur, Banke. The man has been identified as Dhan Bahadur Chalaune, 60 of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-6.

BANKE, Feb 19: A man was killed by a tiger early Saturday at Fattepur, Banke. The man has been identified as Dhan Bahadur Chalaune, 60 of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-6. 


This is the third fatal tiger attack in two months. A month ago, Chandani Tharu, 29, of the same municipality, and Lila Bista, 53, of Rapti Sonari-4 were also killed by a tiger in the area.

“On Saturday, the community forest group had allowed the locals to collect grass and firewood. As many as 30 villagers had gathered on the occasion to collect the grass and wood at the forest. The tiger had attacked and dragged the body of Chalaune over 500 meters into the forest before everyone gathered to scare the tiger away,” Pradeep Poudel, a local said. 


A team of police has already reached the site after receiving information about the incident.
