CHITWAN, Jan 22: Time card system has been implemented from Bharatpur of Chitwan to Manahari of Makawanpur aiming to curb increasing road accidents due to trucks and tippers along the road section.
The District Traffic Police Office, Chitwan, implemented the time card system from Sunday after receiving the high number of complaints that the number of accidents has increased due to trucks and tippers plying along the road section with high-speed.

Out of total number of accidents that took place along the road section in the current fiscal year, 26 per cent accidents took place due to trucks and tippers.
As per the time card, vehicles heading towards Bhandara from Gondrang of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12 from have to reach within 45 minutes.
Chief at the District Traffic Police Office, Police Inspector Santosh Panta, said that an arrangement has been made that the vehicles plying towards Manahari of Makawanpur from Bhandara have to reach within 35 minutes. The distance between Bhandara-Manarai is 20 kilometres.
Panta said that Gongrang, Bhandara and Manahari police would carry out monitoring where or not the vehicles are strictly following the time card system. He said action would be taken against the vehicles violating the time card system.
More than 2,000 trucks and tippers use this road section every day. A total of 115 road accidents occurred along the toad section till January 15 of the current fiscal year. Sixty-one people lost their lives while 230 were injured. Panta added of them, 30 accidents took place due to trucks and tippers.
