KMC Mayor Balen Shah has requested people to remain alert as the flow of water in Kathmandu rivers is high due to the torrential downpours.
He has urged people to take necessary precautions as the water flow in rivers has increased, inundating nearby settlements, eroding land, and increasing the risk of loss of life and property.
He has further advised people to avoid going near the river banks unless it is necessary, not to travel by roads where floodwater has accumulated, not to allow vehicles to enter, not to park vehicles on roadsides and not obstruct the movement by placing unnecessary goods.
If there is a risk of floods, landslides or inundation, he has requested people to contact the District Emergency Operation Center at 9851338322/9851100559, Kathmandu Metropolitan City at 16600105511/1180 and the Metropolitan Police Force hotline at 9851356509.
