IN PICS: Torrential midnight rainfall floods Manthali Bazaar

RAMECHHAP, May 14: Torrential rainfall since yesterday midnight at Manthali of Ramechhap has flooded parts of the district’s capital. Early morning today, the flood also swept seven students who were heading to give their grade 11 examinations by crossing the Ranjor River.

RAMECHHAP, May 14: Torrential rainfall since yesterday midnight at Manthali of Ramechhap has flooded parts of the district’s capital. Early morning today, the flood also swept seven students who were heading to give their grade 11 examinations by crossing the Ranjor River.


Of those swept away, Krishma Phuyal, student of Sahid Smriti Multiple Campus has gone missing while other four swam the rivers to safety and two were rescued.

The children were swept from Ranjor River and washed upto the Tamakoshi River. The District Police Office said that they were searching for Phuyal. “We suspect more students might have been swept by the swelling river,” Rajendra Thapa, police inspector said.


The rainfall induced flood has inundated parts of the district, including its Bus Park and damaged handful of homes and shops. Since yesterday, police and locals have been engaged in relief works, according to District Police Office.
