TU International Conference endorses 17-point declaration

KATHMANDU, June 11: The International Conference on Internationalization of University Education organized by Tribhuvan University has adopted a 17-point declaration regarding reforms in higher education.


The two-day conference that wrapped up on Monday approved the declaration which among other things calls for a flexible curriculum development rising above traditional thinking, including multi-disciplinary subjects in curriculum development, promoting academic collaboration with world-renowned institutions of higher learning, adopting internationalization as an important strategy, providing the university teachers the right to self determination and incorporating significant topics of international standard in the syllabus.

Likewise, the conference endorsed resolutions regarding designing academic programs likely to solve problems by empowering the professors and increasing budget for research by prioritizing research studies. Altogether 12 working papers were presented and discussed in the conference.


TU vice-chancellor Prof (Dr) Tirtha Raj Khaniya presented the declaration in the participation of 150 professors, including 17 internationally-known professors and the chiefs of various bodies of the Tribhuvan University.
